by Keith Connelly – The life and work of highly-respected British stage and screen actress Susan Fleetwood (1944-95)

Illustrated with archive photographs and featuring reminiscences from her many friends in the entertainment world, this respectful tribute to her life and achievements will be appreciated by all those who knew her or admired her work on stage and screen.

This book celebrates the life and work of Susan Fleetwood (1944-95), whose career as an actress began when she graduated with highest honours from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 1966.

The older sister of Mick Fleetwood, founder member of the immensely successful rock band Fleetwood Mac, Susan steadily gathered a reputation as a first-class theatrical actress. She helped found the Liverpool Everyman Theatre and went on to become an important member of both the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, working alongside some of the most respected names in the business.

Susan's roles in television and film met with great critical acclaim.

Her TV appearances included: The Buddha of Suburbia (1993) and Persuasion (1995)

Her film appearances included: Clash of the Titans (1981), Young Sherlock Holmes (1986), Heat and Dust (1983), The Sacrifice (1986), White Mischief (1988) and The Krays (1990)

It is certain that Susan’s reputation would have continued to grow had she not been tragically struck down before her time by cancer in 1995. The affectionate accolades contained in this book leave us in no doubt that she was held in the highest esteem by fellow actors, critics and theatregoers alike, all of whom are generous in their praise for her as an actress, colleague and friend.

Having gathered together a wealth of facts, photographs, anecdotes and reviews of Susan’s work, Keith Connelly has skilfully moulded them into an entertaining and valuable account of the many achievements of this beautiful, talented, hard-working and highly respected British actress.
