Now an octogenarian with 25 books under her belt, author Wallis Peel is well known for her meticulously researched historical novels, many of which are set in Roman and Saxon times, although she has also written about the English Civil War and the more recent history of the Channel Island of Guernsey. One of her most popular books is Glorious Gloucestershire, a guidebook to the county in which she has resided for many years. Writing as H.M. Peel, she also has a stable of children’s books, mainly about horses, which have proved popular with young horseriding enthusiasts all over the world.
