by Sheila Dobson
A personal investigation into Dreams, Archetypes & the Collective Unconscious inspired by the life and works of Carl Jung

INSPIRED BY THE life and work of pioneer psychoanalyst Dr Carl Gustav Jung, Sheila Dobson set out on a quest to understand more about his insights into the human psyche, the interpretation of dreams, ‘archetypes’ and the ‘collective unconscious’ – the latter being terms invented by Jung to describe the phenomenon of common imagery occurring in the dreams of people from many different cultures around the World.

Having undergone Jungian analysis herself in order to discover the meaning behind her many vivid sleeping and waking dreams, Sheila became interested in the analytic process and resolved to make a personal study of Jung via his own influential writings and the many books subsequently written about his life and work.

In About Time an’ All she reveals what she has learned in the course of her investigations and how this knowledge has led her, via an interpretation of some of the archetypal imagery she has encountered in her own dreams, to a greater understanding of herself and the world around her. Amongst many other things, Jung was a great believer in the power of the natural world to help restore the balance of a troubled mind.

Taking up this theme, Sheila reveals the recurrence in her own dream-life of ‘The Green Man’ – an ancient archetype representing the Spirit of Nature, whose appearance she interprets as a warning to us all in this age when the Environment is under threat as never before. As the title of this book suggests, she is inspired to convey this message to the world – that it is ‘about time’ we collectively take this threat more seriously – before it’s too late.
